One-Day Summer Excursions Around Orlando

paddleboardToday is the last day of school for Orange County Schools and every other school system is ending as well. If you are like our family, you are looking for ways to have fun, try something new, and experience something unique together.

Vicki and I have a few places we like to visit during the summer with Will, Owen, and Natalie. If you are looking for something to keep your kiddos from using the dreaded phrase… “I’m bored,” these excursions will work!

Here are some of our favorite one-day excursions close to Orlando:

Rainbow Springs State Park
Archaeological evidence indicates that people have been using this spring for nearly 10,000 years. Rainbow Springs is Florida’s fourth largest spring and, from the 1930s through the 1970s, was the site of a popular, privately-owned attraction. The Rainbow River is popular for swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, and kayaking. Canoes and kayaks can be rented at the headsprings. A picnic area at the spring includes tables, grills, and pavilions.

Oviedo Splash Zone
Oviedo Big Kahuna Pool and Splash Zone are great for young children and families trying to beat the heat without spending money on a waterpark. The Aquatic Facility is open Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 4:00 with extended hours on the weekends.

Paddleboard Orlando
If you have never paddled before and want to try it, Paddleboard Orlando can teach you! Entering their 5th season they have taught over 20,000 people how to paddle board with their introductory program. Everything you need is provided, including a properly sized paddle and board, land and water instructions, and a guided tour with super fun and friendly instructors.
